The "Point"

The area alongside the road leading to the "point" has long been neglected and could very well become an asset to the city again, how would you support this areas comeback?

Jay Batt - Work with and gather input from all relevant parties and move forward accordingly.

Sonia Gupta - I've driven down that road too many times not to notice the poor condition! I would support repaving it, but only up to a certain point. Along the remainder of the road, I would like to see a pubic park space, sort of like those in New York's Chelsea District (where they converted unused harbor spaces into beautiful public parks). I would also support the maintenance of a long walkway, styled like a dock, centered along the length of land and with a spacious gondola or gazebo perched somewhere along the length. We might spot the perimeter of the park with benches for people who want to laze about in the sun, hearing the waves splash along the shoreline. Landscaping along the walkway would also add to the aesthetic appeal.

Ray Landeche - The West End redevelopment meetings suggested several optional uses for this asset. Again, I will support what the people want and need.

David Nowak - I think an expansion of the transit system along this road, as well as improvements to the road itself, will encourage a lot more foot traffic. This in turn will encourage the entrepreneurs to build up the area and open new businesses.

Stephen Saussy - One of the nice areas about the road leading to the point is that it isn't over crowed. Personally, I find it tranquil sitting on the point as I am sure many do. So, I would clean the area and rebuild the launch. Have you approached the residents that live along the road leading to the point for their input?

Candidates Shelly Stephenson Midura, Sal Palmisano & Tom Wagner did not provide an answer to this question.
